Event Description:

It takes a variety of management techniques to run a productive classroom. During this hands-on workshop, participants will explore several ways of creating a well-connected classroom community that is always engaged in learning even while having fun.

Together we will explore, create and share several bell ringers and icebreakers that can be modified for use in different class levels. Class time is precious, and bell ringers put your students to work as soon as they take a seat. Do you want to create a tight classroom bond on day one, or do you have a revolving group of students? Using icebreakers is a fantastic way to create community and build rapport, while learning names.

Without encouragement, students tend to sit in the same seat for each class. We will explore a variety of grouping strategies that can be done prior to class or on the spot.

Finally, participants will use several different games to enhance their lessons. Whether covering grammar, introducing vocabulary or encouraging dialogue, games can be an entertaining way to engage students in learning that is both fun and meaningful.
