Strategies for Making Measurable Skill Gain & Targeted Instruction

Presenter: Guillermina Martino, AEPP Regional

Working Lunch Provided

This training is designed for teachers, data managers, and program managers of students in all ABE and ESL NRS levels. Students often struggle to demonstrate Measurable Skill Gain on the TABE, BEST Plus and BEST Literacy. This workshop is specifically designed to unmask the secrets behind getting your students to show gain. Using the Program Evaluation Report (PER), Student Assessment and Attendance Report (SAAR), and the TABE, BEST Plus, and BEST Literacy classroom resources, participants will practice analyzing their student data and using the results to target instruction.

Every participant will be provided with their program’s current Program Evaluation Report (PER) and Student Assessment and Attendance Report (SAAR).  Data and program managers will be provided their program’s full Student Assessment and Attendance Report that includes every class and teacher in your program. Participants will utilize TABE Blueprints and Individual Profile Report Examples, BEST Plus Question Types and the Language Complexity Rubric, and BEST Literacy Topic areas to plan instructional strategies.

This 4 hour training counts toward the 14 hours of professional development requirement for all NYSED funded program staff.
